Porcelain Dental Veneers

At Orange Grove Dental in New Port Richey, Dr. Srividya Vulugundam has expertise in restoring teeth to optimal beauty and function. One of the treatments we offer is porcelain dental veneers. And, because Dr. Vulugundam takes great pride in quality work, your dental veneer treatment will be exquisite in both appearance and function—designed to last.

Dental veneers are thin shells of porcelain that look like natural, sparkling dental enamel. They are custom designed and fit to cover the front surface of teeth with the end result of improving the appearance of your smile. With today’s materials, very minimal tooth preparation is required to place veneers. This is a conservative and long lasting treatment that strengthens treated teeth.

Veneers Easily Correct Cosmetic Problems

Veneers can be used to improve a smile’s appearance in several ways, including:

  • Covering up stains that are not responsive to teeth whitening,
  • Enlarging proportionately small or worn teeth,
  • Concealing cracks, chips, and uneven edges,
  • Closing small gaps between teeth,
  • Correcting for irregular size or shape of a tooth, and
  • Improving slightly crooked teeth.

Dental Veneers Treatment

At an initial consultation, Dr. Srividya Vulugundam will evaluate your oral health circumstances to verify you are a candidate for this treatment. A poor bite may put excessive force on veneers. Or, the gap or turn of your teeth may be too great for your cosmetic objectives to be met without orthodontics. Some patients benefit from a course of periodontal treatment to restore gum tissue to optimal health prior to veneer placement. There are other considerations such as the health of your dental enamel.

If you are an ideal candidate for veneers, Dr. Vulugundam will recommend the number of teeth that should be treated for optimal aesthetics and explain the changes that will occur and the cost of treatment. Veneer treatment is one of the least expensive ways of achieving a smile makeover. If you accept treatment, only two appointments will be needed, each about two to three weeks apart.

At the first treatment appointment, Dr. Vulugundam will remove a small amount of dental enamel from the front of each tooth that is to have a veneer and make an exact impression of your mouth. According to her instructions, our partnering dental lab will create veneers that are a near-perfect match to your natural teeth. While you are waiting for your veneers, it is unlikely that your prepped teeth will be overly sensitive. If they are, give us a call, and Dr. Vulugundam will provide a temporary solution until your custom veneers are ready. At the second appointment, your custom veneers will be bonded to the prepared teeth. Dr. Vulugundam will check your bite and make any minor modifications that are needed to ensure smooth function and lasting results.

Prior to your first veneers treatment appointment, you may want to whiten your teeth so your dental veneers can be color matched to your preferred shade of whiteness.
